The inaugural TRACE Mentorship Programme, with generous support from the Genesis Kickstart Fund, is launching a year-long no-cost mentorship programme for 24 female-identifying photographers over the age of 35.
The gap of support for female photographers over the age of 35, means that with the age limit on several prominent awards in photography, if she has not reached significant success by that age, she will have to find it on her own. The over age 35 emerging female photographer is invisible - no data appears to explore this demographic.
The TRACE Mentorship Programme will provide 24 female-identifying photographers over the age of 35, a springboard for their photographic careers through a free 12 month online mentorship programme. Mentees will be recruited from a wide range of ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds who have never published their work in a monograph nor had a solo exhibition of their photographs. The programme is designed to address the issues the three Mentors have observed over their combined 60 years in the photography industry: confidence, training and access.
The TRACE Mentorship Programme will provide workshops, one-to-one mentorships, peer networking, portfolio reviews and an exhibition opportunity for photographers who are selected for the programme. Outside of an initial in-person, introductory meeting, all sessions throughout the year will be delivered online.
